5 Days, 5 Islands, 703 Miles…
The brain child of Jason Lester, the EPIC5 Challenge is an unprecedented athletic and spiritual journey which begins on the island of Kauai before traveling on consecutive days to O’ahu, Moloka’i and Maui and concluding in Kona. 5 Iron distance triathlons – 5 consecutive days on 5 Hawaiian islands. The inaugural kickoff for the 703 mile annual journey was in 2010. On October 24th, 2012, the event will be comprised of nine athletes selected from around the world, with one charity slot. Each athlete is encouraged to raise money for the charity of their choice, or to join Jason with raising funds for the NEVER STOP Foundation. Each day will entail a full iron distance triathlon — 2.4 mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2 mile run. The athletes should be able to complete each island’s journey in approximately 15 hours. The Journey for a Better World – There Is No Finish Line
On March 19th 2012, ultra-endurance athlete, Jason Lester, embarked on the Journey for a Better World. He ran and biked over 4,800 miles across the United States, relaying the Nike message that a better world starts with sport.
Along the way, Jason stopped at 39 Nike Stores, sharing how sport inspires hope, instills discipline, raises confidence and rallies communities. After 102 days on the road, tens of thousands of people were inspired.
Although this Journey ended, we will continue blazing new trails, knocking down barriers and creating a better world through sport. Continue your own Journey, share your stories, and inspire others. After all, there is no finish line.
